Matariki

This is my Matariki information report hope you like it. 

What is Matariki?

Matariki is a Maori name for a cluster of stars known as Pleiades. It rises in mid winter.

What does Matariki mean? 

Matariki means Eyes of God (mata ariki) or little eyes of God (Matariki). According to myth Ranginui Sky Father and Papatuanuku Earth Mother were separated by their children. Tawhirimatea (God of the winds) pulled his eyes out and threw them into the heavens because he was so mad. 

Matariki was time for? 

Traditionally Matariki was a time to plant kumara and taro. Matariki was also a time for singing and dancing and kite flying. Matariki was once popular but in the 1940s it stopped in the early 2000s. 

Extra info: 

You can see the stars for most of the year. The seven sisters is another name for Matariki, a time for sharing old stories about Matariki.

1. What did you accomplish? 

Drawing , panting, outlining, quote, dying 

2. Are you satisfied with your final artwork? Why / Why not? 

Not really because I made the dove bigger and that's disappointing as I wanted it to be a better shape and size.

3. What did you find easy when creating your Holy Spirit artwork? 

Drawing the dove and writing the quote. Also dyeing the paper.

4. What did you find challenging when creating your Holy Spirit artwork? 

Painting because it was hard to stay inside the lines.

5. What do you need to work on? 

I need to work on my shape and size of the dove.

6. What would you adjust with your Holy Spirit Artwork?  I would change the shape, size and the paint on my dove. 

7.  What would you do next time to improve your Holy Spirit artwork? 

Make sure that I don't paint over the lines of my dove.
